Wedding & Japanese Traditional Wedding

A Special Day

The beginningof your journey together.

Suizenji Jojuen garden has preserved an unchanging landscape for 350 years.
Within it stands Izumi Shrine, and adjoining it, Matsuya — where "ceremony" meets "celebration."

A formal Shinto ceremony, blessings from the seasonal foliage, meticulously prepared celebratory cuisine —
each element is something special for the couple, their families, and the people who matter most.

From the first meeting and betrothal ceremony to consultations about the ceremony itself, attire and preparation, the reception, and lodging for both families — at Matsuya Honkan, a dedicated wedding planner stays close to you throughout, building a Kumamoto-style Japanese wedding from the ground up.

Shinto & In-Venue CeremonyShinto & Civil Ceremony

Wrapped in the sounds of gagaku court music, exchanging the ceremonial san-san-kudo cups of sake — a solemn wedding tradition unique to Japan.
Through our ties with shrines near Kumamoto, we can arrange a formal Shinto ceremony.
We also offer an "in-venue Shinto ceremony" held in the reception hall itself, witnessed by all your guests. With no travel burden or weather concerns, you can exchange vows watched over by everyone dear to you, in a beautifully authentic Japanese wedding.
